What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

Melbourne homeowners describe bathroom, ensuite, toilet, powder room and laundry projects that are guided from the first design discussion through to completion, with the team helping clients choose fixtures and finishes that suit both the space and the budget. Various customers describe project managers Scott, Tim and Kris as clear communicators who explain each stage, remain contactable and respond promptly when minor issues appear, and tradespeople such as Dave are noted for skill and a strong work ethic. Punctuality and reliability come up often, with accounts of trades arriving when promised and finishing what was agreed.

Tidiness is a recurring theme, and customers mention that each trade leaves the site clean at day's end. The standard of finished workmanship attracts consistent praise, particularly attention to detail, care taken with older brick homes and the transformation of dated rooms into functional spaces. Communication is described as strong before, during and after construction, including a tracking tool that kept clients updated on costs and progress. Clients also appreciate the practical advice offered throughout and the friendly, professional manner of the whole team, from office staff to on-site builders, on jobs ranging from a single ensuite to window replacement and cabinetry.

We had a great experience with Melbourne Renovations. We live in a slightly run down 1960s brick house. With Melbourne Renovations help we were able to renovate our bathroom, toilet and laundry area and give our home a much needed facelift. Dealing with Scott and the rest of the team was wonderful as they clearly explained every step of the process and were proactive if any slight issues came up. I would recommend Melbourne Renovations to anyone and thank them for their help in updating our home.

Super happy with our renovations, I had dealt with a lot of trade in the past. And was very nervous and a bit of a control freak at the start. But Scott and the team were fantastic in handling all my questions and managing the project. Always on time/ Contactable/ clean and if they said they would do something. It would get done. Build trend was a great addition to keep me update with costs and project. They are exactly what we needed, a one stop shop. Again, we had consulted a few designers, who pushed their taste and ideas on us, so really didn’t listen to the brief. Nayab was quick to pick up on our style and she has such attention to detail even small things that you wouldn’t think of, she had it covered. I love her style and feel like I can trust her to design a room and I know it would look amazing. I had an issue with a heated towel rail, totally my fault but before I could even action anything. Matt got on the phone to Reece plumbing and fixed the issue and swapped out my mistake. All before I knew what I had gone wrong. We have done 2 projects so far, and I’m planning on more. So, I’m really looking forward to seeing the team on site again. I did ALOT OF RESEARCH and I’m happy to say Melbourne Renovation team- Are Amazing. Get the job done right the first time and save yourself the headaches and let the team look after you. Thanks again Sarah

I recently had my bathroom and laundry renovated by MR. Short version: It didn't go perfectly but overall MR handled things well. I'm very pleased with the end result and I would use MR again. Issues that I faced would likely be faced with any other builder too. Long version: Melbourne Renovations was neither the cheapest nor most expensive quote that I got. I went with them in part due to their overall process and their ability to support me through design decisions. On that front Nayab (their Interior Designer) was excellent. A pleasure to deal with and very helpful. On the other hand, one of their other staff involved in the early stages got me completely offside to the point that I was very, very close to burning my deposit and walking away. I had wanted a few specific custom pieces (not just items bought off a showroom floor). During the initial quote MR was all promises that they could deliver the custom work, yet when it came to the design they were less accommodating. After a lot of frustration we finally came to an agreed design and we moved on to the build. The build went ok, but only because I regularly checked in on their work. In some cases work was done that was completely at odds with the detailed plans (eg. water points installed at the wrong height, even though the plans explicitly listed the required height; or cabinetry finger-pulls not as specified). In other cases where the plans carried any degree of ambiguity or lack of specifics, the workmen would usually go with the least effort option rather than asking for clarification (eg. water points for a wall-facing toilet were initially positioned external to the cistern, rather than hidden away behind it - but why would I buy wall-facing toilets and not want the plumbing hidden??). There were other areas where additional forethought by Melbourne Renovations might have led to a better result, but the finished product was generally pretty good. The one thing that I can definitely praise Melbourne Renovations for is their build team's effort to have me walk away a happy customer. Any initially unacceptable work, or work not in accordance with the plans, was rectified to a good standard. Things which weren't explicitly clear in the plans and initially done in ways that I didn't like were also fixed to my satisfaction, at no extra cost. I was asked on a couple of occasions when discussing issues: "What would make you happy?". As a result, I have walked away a happy customer. One final note on costs. As is to be expected, the "allowance" they give in their initial quote for fixtures and fittings is usually less than you will really spend once you select the fittings you actually want. You will encounter this with any builder, so I'm not criticising Melbourne Renovations over this; just highlighting it for other people's awareness. However I was also expecting that there would be additional hidden costs of some kind. "Oh, you want that? Our quote didn't include that!". But the additional hidden costs in my build amounted to zero. Zilch. Nada. Nothing. Beyond the more expensive tapware and tiles that I chose, and an unforeseeable expense relating to some custom work, Melbourne Renovation's quote was exactly what I paid. If I have additional renovations to do in future I would happily use Melbourne Renovations again, though taking in some lessons learned from this build.

From design to delivery, the team at Melbourne Renovations professionally managed our project and helped us make the right decisions along the way to realise our bathroom renovation. Our ambition was to take an aged and cold en-suite and make it into something warm and wonderfully inviting with both great functionality and a high end finish in fixtures and fittings, and of course within a budget of sorts. We were not disappointed. Thank you to the team at MR, Tim, Crystal, Scott, Nayab and the tradie crew.

We were so thrilled with Melbourne Renovations in every aspect of the process. We had windows replaced, which required reconstruction of an exterior wall. We are extremely pleased with the result. Dave, the builder was excellent. We were very impressed with his skills and work ethic. Highly recommend them.
