Southern Home Improvements were one of the few companies who were willing and able to add a second level onto my semi-detached house in Adelaide's eastern suburbs. It reassured me that they had the expertise required, having done many previous similar jobs, with good results. Their price point was higher than other companies but worth it for the experience and expertise. The initial salesperson was very personable and reassured me that a number of the things that I was looking for were included in the standard price. I later found out that these were not standard and incurred additional charges. This is my only complaint with the company/process. Everyone at Southern Home Improvements was helpful and friendly, with rapid responses to emails/calls/messages. The process was smooth and well-coordinated. The company were very responsive and corrected mistakes/accidents quickly and efficiently. Trent is a shining star! His coordination, communication, understanding of the job and requirements are all excellent and he was wonderful to work with. I am delighted with the end result and the timeline that was adhered to, with only a few minor hiccups. I would highly recommend Southern Home Improvements to anyone looking to renovate their home, particularly those wanting to add a second storey.

Thanks to Stewart who was very friendly and gave me great initial advice on how best to proceed for my renovation and extension, Michael who got all the calculations, engineering and pricing done, Aziz who was very accommodating with my many floor plan changes and an expert draftsman due to all the difficult angles of my home. Adrian was an exceptional demolition machine able to handle the heaviest of work, Maria was very helpful with coordinating my selections, Leanne was always friendly in the office when answering my many phone calls. My biggest thanks goes to Trent site supervisor who coordinated all my changes and additions along the way, was always available to answer my calls and constantly chase up trades to get the work done. He even supplied a possum trap when one made a home in my roof. Trent spent a great deal of his time and energy ensuring everything was done correctly and to a high standard. Thank you to everyone at Southern Homes for their expert skills and knowledge to be able to complete such a complex build.

Southern Home Improvements (SHI) recently completed a renovation for us and we are thrilled with the result. From the start of the consultation process with Stuart, Maria and Aziz, through to the demolition and renovation process with Trent and his team, communication was great, as was the attention to detail and nothing was too much trouble. We found all SHI staff and contractors to be polite and punctual which was important for us, living onsite throughout the process. Overall, it was a great experience. If you are looking to renovate or extend, I would highly recommend contacting them.

We went with SHI for a few reasons one we (initially) considered doing a second story and two their reviews. They did not disappoint. Michael has the best of the best working with him, he oversees everything with professional and caring approach. Trent the site manager is fantastic- approachable, has an eye for detail, great knowledge and nothing is too much trouble to sort out or fix. Asif did a few plans for us until it was just right and we couldn’t be happier. Maria with selection is always helpful, knowledgeable and quick to respond. Leanne in the office approachable and helpful. Stewart was a friendly initial contact. We have had so many compliments and feel the high standard of work with a very reasonable price. You feel safe knowing it is a long standing family business, with happy staff. We highly recommend SHI.

Southern Homes were professional and organised from start to finish. They offered very good design intent and assistance and were extremely organised and professional when it came to selections, options for different contractors and any alterations from the original design. I would highly recommend them for any extension to an existing property. Trent is an excellent onsite manager and contact, always across all the work that is happening or needs to happen. Overall the whole team functions so well together and they were incredibly diligent and professional.

We recently had an extension done on our home by SHI, and overall, we're very pleased with the results. The workmanship was excellent, with attention to detail and a commitment to quality, and they even went out of their way in some areas. A big shout out to Trent, the project supervisor and our main point of contact. He had multiple projects going but always made time to address our concerns and kept the project moving smoothly. Trent’s communication was fantastic—he kept us updated at every step and explained the process thoroughly, especially around differences in how older houses were built compared to current standards. His efforts made a real difference and ensured we were happy with the extension. We were also happy with all the trades people that came through as all of them were great to deal with. We did have one that did not seem happy and were pleased when Trent intervened before we said anything and just replaced him with someone else. It really says something about a builder when they look into each individual trades person that works for them to make sure the customer gets a good experience on the whole. One area for improvement would be to include Trent in in the upfront and initial discussions with clients to explain the design and may be provide a bit more detail into what to expect. We were expected to have a good understanding of the process, and there were times we found ourselves learning details at each stage with Trent rather than having a comprehensive overview from the start which probably would have been great to have before the project commenced. A bit more in-depth explanation upfront would have made things smoother for us. Overall, SHI did a fantastic job, and we’d recommend them for quality work, especially with Trent overseeing the project!

We used Southern Homes to complete an upstairs extension to our single-storey home plus a complete redo of our very dated ensuite. We have no hesitation in recommending them - pricing was very reasonable, the design team were thorough and listened to what we were looking to achieve and everyone we worked with (Phil, Maria, Trent) were amazing. We were living in the house during the renovations and all the trades were friendly and professional. We've been enjoying the extension for just over a year now and only minor things have needed attention - each time these questions were answered promptly and any actions happened very quickly.
